GSS customer care and call center provider has suffered a ransomware attack that crippled its system and paralyzed call centers serving its Spanish-speaking customers. GSS is the Spanish and Latin America division of Covisian, a European giant of customer care and call center providers.
The company provides call centers and automated customer support phone services for organizations and businesses in Spain and Latin America, according to The Record, some of the impacted companies are Vodafone Spain, Madrid’s water supply company, and television stations. The attack took place on Saturday, September 18.
The company notified the affected customers and told them that it is currently using Google-based systems as backup infrastructure.
“None of the applications will be working until the incident is resolved,” the company said at the time.
A Covisian spokesperson told The Record the attack was orchestrated by the Conti ransomware gang, it said it has no evidence that the ransomware operators have stolen customer data after the attack.
