A massive DDoS attack took down Finnish government websites while Ukrainian President Zelenskyy addressed Finland’s members of parliament (MPs).

On April 8, a denial-of-service attack took down the websites of the Finnish ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs. The attack started at about noon, while Ukrainian President Zelenskyy addressed Finland’s members of parliament (MPs).

“A denial-of-service attack was launched against the Foreign Ministry’s external website on Friday, April 8, 2022, which began at about noon. The situation has returned to normal at around 1 p.m.” reads the announcement published by the Finnish government. “The State Department has taken steps to curb the attack, along with service providers and the Cyber Security Center.”

The Finnish authorities mitigated the attack in around one hour.

Despite the Finnish government has not blamed Russia for the DDoS attack, experts speculate that the attack could be linked to the support offered by Finland to Ukraine and the condemnation of the invasion.
